Performance characterization of the Radionuclide Aerosol Sampler/Analyzer air sampler during a high-activity release event

چکیده

The performance of the Radionuclide Aerosol Sampler/Analyzer (RASA) under high-activity conditions has been evaluated to maintain and protect operations International Monitoring System (IMS) radionuclide stations. Station measurements following Fukushima Daichi accident 11 March 2011 have combined with laboratory understand how quality made using RASA High-Purity Germanium (HPGe) gamma-spectrometer are impacted by increased sample activity detector dead-time. Detector saturation identified occur at a count rate 175,000 counts s−1, which level there significant impacts live-time resolution in addition system contamination risk. To safeguard against these effects, dead-time limit 16.6% is proposed that could be maintained monitoring collecting on filter Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT) installed into particulate collection area RASA. This would ensure IMS technical specifications for measurement time (> 20 h) (2.5 keV 1332 keV) met. CZT dynamically control air flow beneath HPGe threshold also provide useful CTBT verification purposes dose assessments.

A collaborative European study of personal inhalable aerosol sampler performance.

Following the adoption of new international sampling conventions for inhalable, thoracic and respirable aerosol fractions, a working group of Comité Européen de Normalisation (CEN) drafted a standard for the performance of workplace aerosol sampling instruments. The present study was set up to verify the experimental, statistical and mathematical procedures recommended in the draft performance ...

Monitoring of air radioactivity at the Jungfraujoch research station: test of a new high volume aerosol sampler.

The Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (SFOPH) is responsible for the surveillance of environmental radioactivity in Switzerland and for the protection of the public from ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. In order to improve the Swiss radioactivity monitoring network, a new high volume air sampler (DIGITEL DHA-80) was tested in Fribourg and at the Jungfraujoch High Altitude Research Stati...

The pre-impinger, a selective aerosol sampler.

When airborne particles are inhaled it is known that most of those of effective diameter greater than about 5 ,u are filtered out by the upper respiratory tract. Current knowledge of this subject as reviewed by Davies (1949, 1952) indicates that the size of particle which has a 50% chance of passing through the upper respiratory tract lies somewhere in the range 312t to 5 t±. Toxic effects from...
